As we head into the March Break, the OPP is reminding the motoring public of the Distracted Driving Campaign that starts today and run thru Friday. The focus will be on distracted drivers and educating road users in an effort to save lives and change driving behaviour.
Police say cell phone users are four times more likely to be in a collision than a driver that is focused on the road. Studies show that dialing and texting carry the highest degree of risk.
The fine for driving while holding a hand-held device or having a screen visible to the driver is now $400 and three demerit points.
